The power sector in Sri Lanka is mainly driven by two primary energy sources - petroleum based thermal
power and hydro electricity. Wärtsilä in Sri Lanka was established in 2001 at the capital city of Colombo.
Sri Lanka, officially the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, is a tropical island nation situated at the
southern tip of the Indian subcontinent. It occupies a strategic position in the Indian Ocean, along major sea
trade routes from the Far East to Africa and Europe.
Wärtsilä has a 30 % share (164 MW) of the total IPP market of 535 MW and possesses a well equipped

customers. The workshop is equipped with a precision lapping machine providing lapping and polishing operations
with higher accuracy.
